Work From Home Tips: Create a Morning Routine

Why Creating Morning or Getting Started Routines is a Work-From-Home Etiquette

For some, working from home seems like the ultimate dream, but for those who are living it, it can be a nightmare when not handled delicately. Compared to an office-based setting, starting the work for 'home hustlers' can be indeterminate or uncertain. Not having to worry about their early breakfasts, early showers, swift dress ups, and all the pre-office preparations may be their morning routines.

So, what are their routines before getting down to their workstation and grinding away to their home office? Most people may ask, sometimes in the manner of a rhetorical question, "Do they even have some?"

Yes, they do, and yes, they should have. Why?

Working remotely at home can generate a sense of isolation and stress. Without proper and delicate management, the outputs of these home hustlers may be drastically affected since their frame of mind reflects on their performance.

That is why having a morning routine or 'getting-started' routine, which applies to those who don't follow the nine-to-five schedule, provides a firm structure to manage the happenings of the day at work.

There are many ways to create your morning or getting-started routine so that you can work happily, healthily, and comfortably. It can be: sipping a cup of joe and taking the time to actually savor it before you start looking at your to-do-list; drinking glasses of water; eating a healthy diet; journaling in peace; jogging, stretching or exercising; outlining your daily work hours and the tasks you need to accomplish; dressing up as you may prefer, or any activities that give peace to your mind and set you ready for another hustle.

Morning or getting-started routines actually clear the path for productivity. Productivity does not always pertain to the extent of our accomplishments. Sometimes, it's the level of quality, intention, and determination we are putting to the tasks. This is where the importance of morning and getting started routines cross the threshold. It sets the tone for the day that allows us to control our schedule than our schedule controlling and consuming us and our energy.

With a fresh start every working day, we can better focus on what's the most essential tasks, where and when to prioritize our time, and most importantly, increases our productivity.
