A tall footrest when using a stool chair and a standing workstation such as a laboratory and counter.

This footrest is robust, height adjustable, and tilting. Especially great for laboratory workers working either seated at a bench top or in a biosafety cabinet (BSC) or Unidirectional Flow (UDF) Hood. The step surface grips well to shoes. This footrest is not easy to adjust so it is recommended to dedicate it to one user workstation. Everyone is going to sit slightly different. Having equipment that fits a laboratory worker seated is overlooked. A lot of times, the footring on a chair is thought to be sufficient foot support, however, it is not if seated for more than about 20-30 minutes. The reason is that a footring along requires the seated individual to have improper leg circulation and drives the pressure at the base of the pelvis forward. This add extra strain on the lower back. It would be inefficient to spend hundreds of dollars on a lab stool chair and forget about proper foot support.

The reason I like the all steel design of this footrest is because most the applications are in laboratory and industrial spaces. Things get banged around, moved a lot, which means that equipment needs to withstand the elements! Also, things like pedals can be attached to this steel surface via magnet or bolt/screw/tape.

Purchasing a sit to stand desk that allows it to go to the proper sitting and standing heights are a better solution that getting a desk that is high at standing height and stool footrest combination. The reason is because the floor is the best support for your feet when working and a stool chair is both more difficult to climb up into and mechanisms are limited for stool chairs vs. a standard sitting height chair. Sitting at standard height with feet on the floor allows you to have more control of your space. Lastly, there wouldn’t really be much of a price difference.
